Program for Exceptional Students Philosophy

The Cook County Program for Exceptional Students believes in the dignity and worth of every individual, and in the right of every student to have the opportunity to develop intellectually, socially, physically, and emotionally to their fullest potential. We will provide leadership, services, and support to strengthen the capacity of schools, families, and communities to ensure the success of all students through collaboration in the educational process.

PUBLIC NOTICE

2014-2015 School Year

Federal and State regulations require the Cook County School system to have in effect procedures for the identification, location, and evaluation of all students with disabilities, who reside in Cook County. These students may be preschool students, private school students, public school students, homeless/migrant students, charter school students, children served in community programs such as rehabilitation centers or day care centers, and/or home school students.

Cook County has developed a comprehensive plan in accordance with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA 2004) and the plan is on file at the Cook County Special Education office. The plan assures that all children with a disability will receive a free appropriate public education in the least restrictive environment. For further information, or if you suspect that you have a child with a disability, please contact:
